How to use the Window Split screen feature and fix its issues: Know all about the use and the possible fixes

You can utilize two or more programs simultaneously with the help of the split-screen capability. You can use this function to split the screen of your Windows 11 desktop or laptop into two or more sections. Any area of the screen can be used by the app you want to launch. This capability has been available in Windows for a while, but there haven't been many devices with smaller screens. When using two programs simultaneously in the past, you could only divide your screen into two sections.

However, Windows 11 has a frustrating problem that prevents you from using Split-Screen mode to run two programs simultaneously. No matter if you wish to use this new operating system function on a desktop or laptop, it isn't very effective on either one! Although Microsoft has not yet addressed this, we were able to identify a simple fix. This guide will assist you in resolving the Split-Screen issue on a Windows 11 PC.

How to use the split screen feature in Windows 11

  • To launch Windows Settings, first, click the "Windows + I" keyboard shortcut on a Windows 11 computer. Open "Multitasking" from the "System" menu here.

  • The "Snap Windows" toggle should then be enabled. This will give you access to Windows 11's new screen-splitting tool, Snap layout (formerly known as Snap Assist).

  • Now, the Snap layout will show up when you hover over the window's maximize button. The window will move to the left when you click the left column.

  • You can select a different window on the right. The window size can also be changed by dragging the placement slider left or right.

  • Other Snap layouts are also available if you want to divide the screen into three halves and horizontally.

  • Additionally, click on the title bar and drag it to the desired position to make the windows fit into four corners. For instance, if you drag it to the top-left corner, it will automatically snap in that location. Other windows can now be snapped to any location.

Using Windows 11 Snap layouts

With Snap Layouts built right into each window's maximize button, Windows 11 has made splitting the screen much simpler and faster. It's not necessary to use the keyboard shortcuts or hold down the shift key while dragging a window to the side to make it snap.

Hover your mouse over a window's maximize button, which is located in the top-right corner, to use Snap Layouts in Windows 11. There will be four or six alternatives in a little box to split the screen.

  • The first option divides the screen into two equally sized halves, so both windows will take up the same amount of space.

  • The second one divided the screen in half as well, but the allocation of screen space taken up by the windows was uneven. The one on the left in this instance takes up more room than the one on the right.

  • The third option divides the screen into three sections, with one window on the left half and two additional quarters on the right.

  • With the fourth option, the screen is divided into four sections, with each window taking up a quarter of the overall space.

Split screen into two screen

  • Open the program windows you want to divide, place your mouse cursor on the maximize button, and then choose one of the first option's components.

  • The currently open app window will now snap into the chosen half of the screen, and other open apps will be visible there as thumbnails. Select the person you want to include on the other half of the screen.

  • Two app windows are now visible on the screen. You can concurrently access and work on them.

  • The windows can also be adjusted in size.

Split screen into 3 screens

  • There is an option to divide the screen into three halves if you intend to work on three apps at once. To choose one of the three components in the third choice, place the cursor on the maximize button. Although the idea is still the same, we have chosen a quarter for your ease of understanding.

  • The top-right quadrant of the screen will accommodate the current window, while the left half will show thumbnails of the other active windows. Choose the second window you wish to work on from the list. Additionally, keep in mind that since it would take up twice as much room as the other two, pick the option that calls for more focus and clarity.

Split screen into 4 screens

  • The idea behind dividing the screen into four halves is much the same as what we covered in the previous section. To select the preferred quarter in the last option and the other programs to be on the split screen in accordance, move the cursor over the maximize button of the current window.

How to fix the split screen issue on Windows 11

Restarting the OS

Before attempting any additional troubleshooting techniques, it is always a good idea to try rebooting the computer. On my PC, I've had trouble getting the split-screen to function. Restarting the computer quickly resolved the issue.

  • On the screen, click the Windows key.It will launch the Windows search window.

  • Click on the Power icon in the search console's bottom right corner.

  • Choose Restart from the menu that appears.

  • Try using split-screen once the computer restarts and many windows are open. Try the following fixes if the functionality isn't functioning.

Restarting Explorer.exe

Click the most pertinent result after entering Task Manager using the Windows+S keyboard shortcut.

Find the task for Explorer.exe under the Details tab after launching the Task Manager window. When you locate it, right-click it and choose "End Task."

  • Go to File now and choose Run new task.

  • Click OK after launching Explorer.

  • The issue ought to be fixed after closing the window and restarting explorer.exe. If it persists, you should restart your computer from scratch and monitor what occurs after that.

Updating Graphics Drivers

Drivers are programs that instruct your hardware on how to operate. The efficiency and security of your device are improved by keeping them up to date, yet many people neglect to do so.

  • Click on Computer in Windows Explorer, then choose Properties to see if your graphics card has the latest drivers. Your graphics card can be found by clicking Device Manager. Update Driver Software can be chosen by right-clicking it.

  • When a new update is available, Windows will update your driver automatically if you have enabled automatic updates. If not, you will need to manually go to the AMD or Nvidia websites and download updated drivers, which when installed should fix your issue.

Using an external monitor

Split-screen in Windows 11 has a rather straightforward fix. Use an extra monitor if you want to benefit from the multi-monitor feature. Use a cheap adapter cable to connect your monitor to an external display rather than running two monitors off your laptop or tablet. This will make it possible for both screens to function seamlessly together. Additionally, there are a couple additional options you can try if it doesn't work for you.

You might also experiment with the display settings. From your control panel, select numerous screens and then decide whether to extend them.

Uninstalling third party apps or services

You can also look at the apps you recently installed on your computer, which might have come from an unreliable source. These apps frequently introduce viruses or alter the Windows system settings. Numerous technical problems with the PC could result from this. The split-screen feature not functioning as intended may be one of them.

On your computer, remove any recently installed applications. After that, restart the computer and see if your PC's split-screen capability is operational or not.

Fixes Windows 11 Snap feature not working

Some applications don't support the capability, as we previously said. In some programs, using the Snap keyboard keys or hovering your cursor over the Minimize button will have no effect while you are in fullscreen mode. Skitch is an excellent instance.

Therefore, be careful not to mistake Snap Layouts' malfunction with one app's lack of responsiveness. Check the feature's functionality with another software, such as Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome, by opening it. When you divide other programs, you'll find that incompatible programs won't show up in the suggestion window.

However, you are still free to adjust their size while using other apps in the multi-window grid.

Updating your PC

The issue might also be related to your current version of Windows 11, particularly if you're still using an Insider Preview release.

Microsoft regularly publishes patches to address the flaws that cause these issues. To install the newest Insider release, go to the Windows Update client:

  • Select the Settings icon by clicking the Start button.

  • Choosing the Settings icon

  • Once the program has opened, click on Windows Update.

  • Download and install any updates that are available, and if asked, restart your computer.

  • Install all available updates and restart your computer as necessary.

  • If you experience a problem with your new Insider build, you might want to install the Microsoft official release. Head to this guide on how to download and install Windows 11 to do.

Android apps failing to install? Try these easy possible solutions

Android phones are known for their inclusive nature and an overall less complex and easy-to-navigate system. However, despite everything they are not free from trouble and one of these troubles comes in the form of the app not installed issue. Now, these issues can arise either when you install a particular app from the app store directly or download it via the .apk file extension that you may have found online.

Now, to find a possible remedy for such issues it becomes important to first know the cause of the problem. Once we have identified the cause, perhaps you may be able to solve the issues yourself without going through much of the guide.

The possible reasons why ‘apps not installed on android’ issues occur

  • Storing too much data often leads to various issues on Android devices and one of which is the app not installed. But again, you may also overlook the amount of storage left on your phone which may also lead you to believe that the possible error is occurring because of that.

  • One of the most frequent causes of the Android app not installed error is faulty storage, particularly corrupted SD cards. Unwanted data may include components that disturb the storage location, resulting in an Android app installation problem.

  • You can download the most reliable versions of the applications you want to install from Google Play Store. When you attempt to install from other external sources, though, it can result in CPU incompatibility and/or be versions that your phone can't handle.

  • Unsigned apps are programmes that aren't offered through the Google Play Store. This does not, however, imply that you must stop using unsigned apps if they are by default restricted. Additionally, there are solutions to this problem.

  • Even though some apps can be downloaded and installed to an SD card, if the SD card is not mounted on the device, you will receive an Android app not installed notification.

How to fix the app not installed issue on your Android device via easy and common methods

After having looked at the possible reasons let’s see the possible solutions for fixing the issue.

Note: Be sure to uninstall any similar apps that are already installed before beginning the remedy. And to see if the problem has been resolved, try installing the app.

Restarting your smartphone as a starting step

Restarting an Android device, albeit a bit antiquated, fixes common system issues and preserves battery life. Additionally, it is almost probable that the apk won't install if your device's memory is corrupted. This problem can be resolved by restarting your Android at least once a week.

In order to restart your phone, all you have to do is:

  • Hold the power button down for three seconds.

  • Three choices—Power Off, Restart, and SOS or Emergency Mode—will appear. Select "Restart" from the menu.

  • Rebooting your Android device should resolve the issue with the uninstalled app.

Disabling Google Play Protect to make the app work again

For Android, Google Play Protect acts as a built-in virus filter. It checks installed or upcoming apps for viruses, and if any malicious code or other threats are discovered, it disables the installation. The Play Store offers protection for third-party apps in addition to works and programmes downloaded from it.

Therefore, it is best to disable play protect and give it a try if you experience any installation errors.

  • Visit the Play Store

  • Then select the Menu Hamburger symbol on the top left.

  • Look for Play Protect here.

  • Press the Settings icon to turn off Play Protect.

Checking storage location to analyse the storage activity

  • The error pop-up is typically caused by downloading the app to an external mount such as an SD. Because the mobile device's package installer enables you to accept the files without any problems, it is, therefore, advisable to install any third-party programme on your internal storage.

  • You must use your external storage in the event that your internal storage is unavailable, or you must free up internal storage. The best way to accomplish the latter is to transfer all of your mobile device's large files to the SD card. You can also save them elsewhere, such as on Drive, and then try reinstalling the app.

The corruption of application fix

  • This is probably the most frequent cause of the App Not Installed issue that consumers encounter. The downloaded apk file itself is corrupt, which is why. Either the apk file on the website was corrupted when you downloaded the software (due to a poor internet connection, for example), or some data packets were missing.

  • Make sure you download the program from a reliable and safe source first to avoid similar issues. Avoid browsing anymore since you can find a rogue program that can harm your phone there.

  • When installing an app from an SD card or from within a directory, issues might occasionally arise (particularly in older versions of Android). Therefore, all that is required of you is that you move the downloaded apk file into your device's root directory (within internal storage and not in any folder). Then attempt installing the program once more.

Resetting app preferences to remove data restrictions

Data limits are removed and all background data is cleared when app preferences are refreshed. And in the majority of cases, taking these actions will resolve the problem.

  • Select "Settings" and then "Apps & Notifications" from the menu.

  • After selecting "App," scroll down to find the three dots or "More" buttons. (On some versions, the three dots can also be found in the top right corner.)

  • After selecting "Reset App Preferences," a pop-up alert will show up.

  • After selecting "Agree" or "Continue," press "Reset."

Resetting app preference and then installing the app

  • On your Android smartphone, tap Settings.

  • To access all of your installed apps, go to the Settings menu, select "Apps," and then press "Manage apps."

  • You must tap on the three vertical dots in the top-right corner of the screen to access manage Apps.

  • Now select "Reset App preferences" from the limited list of choices that appears. When a dialogue box appears, you must click "Reset Apps"

  • Finally, you can install the selected app after you reset the app preferences.

Conclusion

Fixing the issue of 'app not installed' it is necessary that you try to find the reason for it and then implement a particular solution carefully. Simply start with the simple step of restarting your phone and then if that doesn't work go ahead to the next step.

The reasons why mobile apps are important for the travel and tourism Industry

Travelling to a different place, for either business or pleasure, is commonly referred to as tourism. The act of travelling to another location for at least 24 hours but no longer than a year, for business or pleasure, has a very particular definition, according to the dictionary.  On the other hand, The act of going from one place to another is referred to as travel. Long-distance, short-distance, international, domestic, and other types of travel are all included in this. Importantly, travel encompasses a wide range of various travel reasons and includes both one-way and round-trip journeys.

In both of these aspects of motion Tablets, smartphones, and other mobile gadgets are becoming commonplace. A useful tool for these devices is an interactive travel app. Users can look for maps, tourist attractions, flight schedules, and ticket costs. It makes sense that the tourism industry is receiving greater attention from mobile app development firms today.

A trustworthy mobile app has a sizable market. What gives a travel app more authority and appeal? The greatest apps make it simple to organise and take risky holidays. Additionally, you can begin a road trip after consulting local weather forecasts. Here are some additional functions of a mobile travel app that may draw users to it.

Why are mobile apps important for the Travel and Tourism industry

Approximately 85% of smartphone users are predicted to routinely use travel applications. They carry out this action while they prepare to organise a family trip. Therefore, if you have a trip planned with your loved ones, you should look into these travel and vacation planning apps. Additionally, if you work in the travel industry, now is the ideal time to consider releasing your own exclusive travel app. This is crucial if you want your company to survive and thrive in this cutthroat market.

Some common benefits

Tourism mobile apps assist customers with travel planning, lodging reservations, ticket purchases, cab bookings, route planning, and more. The following additional tourist services can be provided via mobile tourism apps, albeit these are only the basic ones such as

  •  Maps, GPS services, and route planning comprise navigation.

  • Social - Free conversation, picture galleries, reviews, and updates about travel.

  • Contests, discounts, and offer alerts for mobile marketing

  • Medical security, emergency dialling, and information about regional and global health organisations

  • E-commerce includes purchasing, making reservations, and banking internationally.

Make an easy way for bookings

  • You can access everything under one roof and tile, which is one of the main reasons why vacation lovers and holiday connoisseurs adhere to mobile apps.

  • This indicates that if a traveller makes a reservation in advance through a mobile app. In one location, he can schedule and make arrangements.

  • All of them involve planning and selecting the ideal destination, purchasing tickets to get there, making hotel reservations for the duration of the trip, and pre-purchasing cab services to explore the location and pay visits, among other things. To complete the remaining activities, the tourist does not need to launch any other standalone apps. One popular app that the tourist utilises can be used to carry out all of these tasks.

Improving the overall travel experience

Travellers use travel apps as a tool for online ticketing, hotel booking, destination information, locating nearby attractions and eateries, exploring new places, obtaining reviews about a place they want to visit, sharing trip photos, and leaving feedback on a place, airline, hotel, or event. Applications like Wikitude provide up-to-date details about the structures and landmarks you are visiting in a lighthearted manner. It puts pertinent images and content on top of your phone screen using the camera on your smartphone.

Transactions made easy with mobile apps

  • It is one of the biggest benefits these mobile applications have to offer. It has drastically reduced the paperwork procedure.

  • You may store numerous soft copies of hotel reservations, airline or train tickets, and other vital papers on your mobile phone because smartphones are practical, convenient, and portable.

  • They are optional to take while en route to your destination. Additionally, since the debut of these tourism apps, the procedures associated with vacation booking have decreased.

  • The travel and tourism sector has benefitted greatly from online transactions. It makes it possible to pay for your reservation entirely online, meaning that you may avoid carrying a lot of cash with you while travelling.

Getting exclusive offers

  • Since travelling can be expensive, your customers will value a rewards programme or a notification of a good offer. Everyone enjoys a good discount or bonus for using the same service more than once.

  • Since that kind of offer is entirely up to you, you can start by giving a discount on particular services to anyone who instals your app and makes their first appointment. Then you may negotiate with hotels, airlines, and other companies to offer your customers even more discounts and promotional promotions. A rewards programme that enables customers to accrue points and redeem them for travel, hotel stays, and other benefits can also be put into place.

Enhanced social media relationships

  • Nobody can dispute how quickly the social media phenomenon is spreading and affecting business. We may claim with optimism that social networking will keep having an increasing impact on offline social ties with enterprises. The travel sector will also flourish as a result of social media and neighbourhood networks.

  • Social networking has yet another application in the field of travel. People enjoy telling their friends, family, and the world about their travels. In addition to typical social media platforms, a number of travel networking apps have emerged

Discover How to Diagnose and Fix Performance Problems in PHP Applications

The PHP development team has been hard at work, releasing new features and improvements to the PHP language, the web server in which it runs, and the databases that it connects to each and every month. The result of this activity by the PHP development team means one thing: performance problems in PHP applications are becoming more and more common! But don’t panic! With this guide on how to diagnose and fix performance problems in PHP applications, you’ll have all of the information you need to tackle these issues head-on.

Understand what happens under the hood

Many performance problems can be diagnosed just by using a tool like Xdebug or Chrome's developer tools. With both of these, you'll be able to see what's happening under-the-hood without having to deploy your app first.

You might not realize that it takes five queries on average to display a single piece of content on your page or that an AJAX call blocks all other page loading while it happens.

Seeing how these things affect your code will give you insight into what kinds of changes will help make things better; you might even find that some problems aren't fixable right away. But at least now you'll know what's happening and where you need to improve things.

Check your code for common mistakes

Before you start optimizing your code, it’s important to make sure there aren’t mistakes already present. Make sure your code is: clear, easy-to-read, properly indented, uses short variable names (four characters or less), avoids magic numbers, avoids excessive logic (e.g., branching/looping), uses comments appropriately—especially when APIs are used—and is free of typos and obvious syntax errors. If you aren’t sure whether something is a mistake or not, don’t be afraid to use Google.

Poor security practices

As a web developer, it’s your job to ensure that data isn’t compromised. In particular, you need to make sure that sensitive information is encrypted before it reaches users, but also that stored user credentials (such as passwords) are stored safely.

It’s not just about keeping things safe from hackers — you also have an obligation to protect your own systems from malicious users who might want to steal from or damage your application or company.

We suggest always using salted password hashes (and two-factor authentication whenever possible). For more information on best practices for storing passwords securely with PHP, check out Anthony Ferrara's post on a similar topic.

Making database queries twice

Many programmers struggle with performance optimization because they make redundant database queries. Sometimes it’s a matter of laziness, but other times it’s a matter of poor organizational skills. Either way, before you can speed up your application, you have to be able to diagnose where things are going wrong.

This diagnostic involves adding some code that logs what queries are being executed (SELECT, UPDATE, INSERT) by your application when you log into it.

You should then look at your log files for patterns that indicate unnecessarily repeated queries or an otherwise inefficient query pattern. Once you’ve done that: Keep all tables small: Large tables can really hurt an application's performance.

Misconfiguring the web server

Developers can use tools, such as Linux top or iftop, to find out how much memory an application uses. If a site has a heavy load, it is useful for developers to check how much of that load is caused by external requests.

Developers can use iftop on Linux machines or Navicat/Kashoo on Windows servers (or whatever tool they normally use) to check how many resources are being used per hour. It's important for them to check what percentage of requests come from bots versus actual human users. In some cases, robots might be responsible for more than 90% of traffic.

Use a profiler

If you’re trying to figure out how well your application performs, there are a few tools that can help you out. If you’re using a hosted solution like Heroku or Amazon Web Services, your host will have many different options for analyzing application performance.

If you’re running locally, there are lots of options available to aid your performance analysis: Linux has profile; Mac has Instruments; Windows has Visual Studio Profiler.

Each tool gives you insight into which sections of code are taking up processing time—even if it means going down several levels deep into your web stack. From there, you can examine what needs improving and make sure those changes get made ASAP.

Determine the potential causes of bottlenecks

When it comes to performance issues, you can't assume that one thing is causing everything. If your site's running slowly, start by looking at both front-end and back-end performance; we'll get into those details a bit later on.

Once you've pinpointed a potential bottleneck, ask yourself these questions: * Why could that particular process be causing slowdowns? * What can I do about it? * What do I know so far? * Where should I go next?

Follow the F.I.R.S.T (Files, Inodes, Resources, Sockets, Threads) rule

Performance issues can be caused by a huge number of things, which is why you need to know how to check for every possible cause. F.I.R.S.T stands for: Files, Inodes, Resources, Sockets, and Threads.

Every time you experience a performance issue, run through these steps before you even start thinking about potential solutions. The order of each step is important – resolve any problems with file access before moving on to resources, then sockets, etc.

Benchmark it with XHProf

If you don’t have access to production data, performance profiling can be a real challenge. Luckily, if you’re running Apache, there’s a great open-source tool called XHProf that helps you collect performance data from your codebase. The process is relatively straightforward: create an xhprof.php file at your root directory (this will contain all of your profiling code), configure mod_xhprof for Apache, restart Apache and begin your profiling process by invoking php /path/to/your/root/.xhprof.php. Once configured correctly, XHProf should be able to capture diagnostic information at runtime and report back some performance statistics on functions in addition to function calls themselves.

Use Unix tools such as top, lsof, free, vmstat etc.

A lot of performance information is available on most operating systems. For example, Unix/Linux provides tools like free, vmstat, top (and others) which will tell you about CPU and memory usage. The top tool is especially useful for investigating a long-running process: just type 'top' and watch how it updates every few seconds with new details. Running 'ps aux sort -nrk 2 -g' will let you see what's happening on your system at any given time. I recommend learning these commands so that you can learn more about your system when something breaks!

Use in-built functions like memory get usage

Knowing exactly how much memory your application is using is critical for effective performance management. The easiest way to find out is by checking built-in functions like memory get usage. This function will give you a snapshot of how much memory your application has allocated at any given time, allowing you to get an overall picture of whether your app is over-allocating or under-allocating resources.

If your app seems well within acceptable memory limits, look into adding caching layers, offloading jobs that don't need to be done synchronously (like updating records while users are on a different page), and checking server configuration settings that might be causing undesired effects.

wrapping up

There are many different steps involved with finding, diagnosing, and fixing performance problems in your application. When you’re running into performance problems with one of your applications, be sure to walk through these steps carefully. As an added bonus, consider pairing up with a developer who has experience optimizing PHP apps - they can lend you an extra set of eyes that might catch something you’re missing. It also never hurts to make use of developer tools like New Relic that provide important insights that are hard to get by just looking at a terminal session or application log files. With a little work upfront, you can prevent even small performance issues from turning into big ones down the road.
